Wirkkala is a one-man project that has existed, in some form, since I was fifteen. The output has been sparse by design — Episodic Dreamer is a collection of songs written across that span that felt worth keeping. Some were written in my mid-twenties alongside Salvador, a childhood friend who is a drummer. Several of the drum parts on this record are his. Some songs were written in Mexico, some in Kyiv, and some in New York. The album was recorded alone, in New York, with some help from my friend, producer Jordan Moser. The album traces the arc of a fictional life that isn't entirely invented — heartbreak, mourning, rebirth.
